چکیده

In this paper, an efficient neighbor AR (Access Router) discovery scheme and handoff procedure using neighbor information are proposed. It allows each AR and Mobility Anchor Point (MAP) to know neighboring ARs and MAPs, and therefore, a mobile node (MN) can perform the handoff process in advance, using the proposed handoff mechanism. It is important to note that the Inter-MAP domain handoff improvement of the proposed scheme is up to about 57% and 33% for handoff latency in comparison of the Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6) and the Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 with Fast handover (F-HMIPv6), respectively. The proposed scheme is approximately two times better than the existing one in terms of the total signaling costs through performance analysis. Therefore, it is sufficiently satisfied with the requirements of real-time applications, and seamless communication is expected.

Mobility Management Architecture for Transport System

Next generation wireless/mobile networks will be IP based cellular networks integrating the internet with cellular networks. In this paper, we propose a new architecture for a high speed transport system and a mobile management protocol for mobile internet users in a transport system. Existing mobility management protocols (MIPv6, HMIPv6) do not consider real world fast moving wireless hosts (e...

Dynamic Map and Diffserv Based Ar Selection for Handoff in Hmipv6 Networks

In HMIPv6 Networks, most of the existing handoff decision mechanisms deal mainly with the selection of Mobility Anchor Point (MAP), ignoring the selection of access router (AR) under each MAP. In this paper, we propose a new mechanism called “Dynamic MAP and Diffserv based ARs selection for Handoff in HMIPv6 networks” and it deals with selecting the MAP as well as ARs. MAP will be selected dyna...

Design & Simulation of Multicast Based Fast Handoff Scheme for HMIPv6

Mobile users move frequently between networks, as they stay connected to the Internet. Thus, as mobility increases across networks, handovers will significantly impact the quality of the connection and user application. Handover performance is very important when evaluating IP mobility protocols. This paper proposes a new architecture based on multicast for providing efficient and fast handoff ...

A Study on Performance of Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 in IP-based Cellular Networks

Next-generation wireless/mobile networks will be IPbased cellular networks integrating Internet with the existing cellular networks. Recently, Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6) was proposed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) for efficient mobility management. HMIPv6 reduces the amount of signaling and improves the performance of MIPv6 in terms of handoff latency. Although HMIPv6 is a...

A cross-layer partner-based fast handoff mechanism for IEEE 802.11 wireless networks

In wireless/mobile networks, users freely and frequently change their access points while they are communicating with other users. To support the mobility of mobile nodes, Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) is used to inform the information of mobile node’s home address and current care-of-address (CoA) to its home agent. MIPv6 suffers from a long delay latency and high packet losses because MIPv6 does not su...
